Membership

So, you’d like to join? Great! Before you smash that “join” button, here’s what we’re trying to accomplish:

Tradition:

One of our main goals is to maintain and further develop the culture of Union Berlin. We cover everything from the Liedgut to the history of the club. Dit iss Union, verstehste?

We support the active fan scene.

Community:

Stay up to date on what’s happening in the club via our newsletter, which we plan to release once per month. Learn about all the cool initiatives the club and other fans get up to, including clothing drives, support for handicapped fans, and other opportunities to get involved from afar.

Because this is a club for the entire US (since there aren’t so many of us), it won’t be exactly straightfoward to set up get-togethers, but stay tuned…we’ve always got something in the works. In the meantime, members can have their own events publicized in our newsletter for other Unioners to join. We might even get merch one day…

Service:

Union has been a positive force for all of us, and since sport is ultimately a social–not financial–endeavor, it’s our job to pay it forward. As part of being a member, you’ll work with other like-minded fans to create social change while representing the club

Sound cool? The requirements are pretty relaxed as well:

Commitment:

You’ve got to have a heart for Union. It’s more than just following a Bundesliga club in order to have something to watch on TV. For us, the old wisdom holds: “We don’t go to soccer. We go to Union”

Everyone is expected to uphold the “Boonian Rules” of the Union Fan:
1. Never whistle the team
2. Never make a player a scapegoat
3. Never leave the stadium before the final whistle
4. Hoarseness is the soreness of the Union fan

Financial:

We’ll collect money as needed for various purposes: charity, club get-togethers, stickers, a Zaunfahne (banner), and, if we can ever find it, enough Berliner Luft for an army.

Service:

Because we’re so spread out and so few, members are asked to perform one act of service each year in their community. We’re flexible as to what this means: cleaning up a park, volunteering at a soup kitchen, helping out at schools, whatever. The main thing is that you represent Union and our club well while doing it!

Well, that’s our spiel. Send us a message via our contact page with the subject “Membership” and we’ll get you sorted out!
